Astronautical or Space Engineering is a branch of engineering that aims to provide economic, scientific and technological services and products from the atmosphere, near space and outer space around the Earth. Astronautical engineers are engineers who design and build manned and unmanned aerospace vehicles (especially satellites) to be placed in orbit around the world and rockets that can put them into orbit, calculate mission and route plans, and enable them to fulfill their duties by constantly controlling them. Space engineers also take part in carrying out scientific and technological experiments that will be performed in aerospace craft.
As of 2021, 40 students were admitted to the department. Engineers who will graduate from the department will have the opportunity to be employed in all aviation-related research centers, private companies, Undersecretariat of Defense Industry, Universities, TUA, TUBITAK, TUSAŞ, TAI, TEI, TURKSAT and other organizations related to aerospace sciences.
